Ancient crayon

The 10,000 year-old crayon.

The article is about a rock that archaeologists found that they think is a crayon from hunter gather times.  There seems to be a lot of speculation but there are things that use science like comparing the rock to naturally formed rocks and seeing a difference that suggests that is has been formed by humans.  It might be a way to see more about how humans at that time learned to communicate with each other in a way that we can study.  The picture helps to let the reader see the rock and to understand how archaeologists could have come to their conclusions.  To me it looks more like a piece of chalk than a crayon especially when they would have been writing on rock walls instead of the normal walls of a building that children draw on now with crayons.

Blog: pictures (for header and to start posts, included with most links on the side, picture of creator), very colorful (green purple, pink, orange, some gray, white and black), “whimsical font”, includes tweets by creator, has about creator stuff on the side along with links to her social media and email list, top posts and pages on side, top themes in different sized fonts, link to academic publications, link to commenting policy, tags for each post to the themes it fits in, not much unused space, link at top to her website, drop down menus of resources and research themes at top, contact link at top, constantly updated, there are posts and pages, short posts with continue reading links if reader wants to read more, uses different fonts to organize ideas, meant for a more contemporary audience
